ALONG THE TRAJECTORY OF ” ART STUDIES “

The main requirements for the level of preparation of applicants for the educational program B024 “Art studies”, tractor – 6B02195-“Art studies “:

The applicant must have a full secondary education. The student should be armed with knowledge of the history of world and Kazakh fine art, be able to express his thoughts about contemporary art independently, master the initial skills of analyzing works of art. In addition, the applicant must have a general artistic knowledge, including ideas about the fine arts of the world and Kazakhstan, about its types and features, about the nature of modern development. Be proficient in computer technology and the state (Kazakh) language.

1. Requirements for the level of education of the incoming candidate:

To know: the main areas of art criticism; types and genres in fine art; creativity of famous personalities, founders of fine art.;

To know: the general history of world and domestic fine art, patterns of formation and development, features of the creative process of artists, the work of famous painters, sculptors and graphic artists from the history of the world and Kazakh art, artisans.;

Capable of: conducting formal analyses of individual works of art; commenting on the current state of Kazakh fine art; describing and comparing works of world and Kazakh fine art.

Has the skills of: independent analysis of contemporary works of art, evaluation of conclusions in the field of art criticism of Kazakh fine art, conducting discussions on fine art issues.

Preliminary creative selection:

Consultations are held for applicants in the period before the entrance exams. During the consultations, written works in the form of reviews are accepted. Analytical hours are organized.

Creative exams:

1. Written exam (4 hours). Description and analysis of individual works of fine art (painting, sculpture, graphics). The content of the analysis consists of a description of the image, idea, theme and plot and the definition of genre features of the artwork, material and technique of execution.
2. Oral examination (by tickets). Tickets are systematized on issues related to the types and genres of fine art, based on the course of its development around the world and Kazakhstan, and determine the applicant’s artistic knowledge.

Requirements for the written exam:

Applicants must express their opinion about the work of fine art selected for the written exam, demonstrate a sufficient level of knowledge on the history of fine art, be aware of modern artistic processes, know the peculiarities of the creative methods of the painter, sculptor, graphic artist and architect, logically freely bring the idea and convincingly argue their position.

The volume of work is 3 pages.

Requirements for the oral exam:

When answering ticket questions and additional questions, it is taken into account:

– The main monuments of Kazakh and world fine art;

– Be able to analyze individual works of fine art;

– Acquaintance with the works of leading personalities of the Kazakh and world fine arts;

– Oral opinion on significant events and phenomena in the field of art.
